Character development works the same way. Stop asking what a character would do. Start asking what they can't do. What they refuse to do even when it costs them. What they do when nobody is watching. The chatbot doesn't create the character - but good questions force you to discover what you already know about them.
Co-writing is the most underexplored territory here. Not having the chatbot write your scenes, but using it as a scene partner. Describe what you want to happen; ask the chatbot what it finds implausible; defend your choices; notice where your defenses feel hollow. The creative argument is the work.
